Ramappa temple most commonly known as ramalingeswara temple located at waranangal in Telangana state. Ramappa temple is about 67 km from Warangal. The prime deity of the temple is lord shiva worshiped in the form of rama lingeswra, the temple was built during the period of Kakathiya in 13th century. Ramappa templeis not only a pilgrim center but also it offer an opportunity to know more about the heritage of india.
this is a wonderful architecture which is known by the name of its sculptor ramappa during the perod of kakathiya king ganapathy varma. Ramappa temple is lied in the green forest beauty. the main temple is surrouded by the strong walls, however some of the parts are in decayed stage. the administration of the temple is manged by the archaeological survey of india in recent days.
The temple is made with bricks, there is a small entrance gate to the temple it situated 6 feet above from the sea level, the temple structure totally consists of three main areas including mahamandapam, garbhagriha and antharala. there is a statue of nandi can be seen at the entrance of the sanctum which is facing to the main shrine of the sanctum. as we mentioned earlier the garbhagriha which is the holy place for installing the idol of shiva linga. there are many pillars and which has the sculptures saying the story of hindu mythology.
the interesting thing about the temple pillars that produce sound of music when you hit on the pillars.
The temple timings start at 6’o clock in the morning till evening 6. Warangal is the nearest city to the temple having the facility of both rail and buses located at a distance of 67 km. the closest airport is at Hyderabad is about 160 km from the temple.
