Swedaranyeswarar kovil is famous temple in tamilnadu by worshiping one of the nine planets according to the hindu mythology. Swedaranyeswarar kovil or budha is the prime deity of this temple, Swedaranyeswarar kovil is the form of lord shiva. The holy water sources of the temple called theerthams, theerthams occupying in the Swedaranyeswarar kovil are surya theertham, chandra theertham and agni theertham. vilwa tree is the holy tree in the temple compound. the leaves of this tree called vilwa pathra which is the favorite of lord shiva so that this will provide as a main offering in shiva temples. kali, natraja, murugan, durga are the sub deities installed in the templ, also there is a separate installation for the 63 sages of lord shiva which known as arupathu moolavar.
There are six daily rituals takes place in Swedaranyeswaarar kovil. 10 day annual festival hosts in tamil month masi. navarathri is also a grand event here.
