according to the hindu mythology, ramayanaa is close relate with vaitheeswaran kovil, on the way to abduct sita by ravana, jadayu became killed by the attack of ravana. but jatayu was the first messenger to rama about the missing of sita. lord rama and lakshmana was done the final rituals for jatayu at this place. angarakan is the deity of the temple which worship in two different forms. one is installed permanently in the temple and other one taken out from the sanctum for the procession.
